BELOVED IS A FOLLOW-UP TO DAVE EAST’S PARANOIA: A TRUE STORY AND STYLES P’S G-HOST
(Sept. 26, 2018 – New York, NY) The ongoing saga of explosive East Harlem rapper and story-teller Dave East takes a new turn as he steps into the ring with invincible Yonkers MC Styles P (a Phantom Entertainment artist) for their first collaboration, BELOVED, arriving October 5th via Def Jam Recordings/Mass Appeal Records.
“Beloved” translates to David, which brings us to our two artists, David Brewster (Dave East) and David Styles (Styles P). “Beloved” in English means dearly loved, highly regarded and admired, which reflects the sentiments of the two Davids in New York City. In this body of work which features production by Chase N. Cashe (Drake, Lil Wayne, Currensy), Scram Jones (Remy Ma, Scarface), and Styles P’s son, Noah Styles (on “Rare Breed”), we hear how the two David’s battle through the goliaths of violence, street politics, drugs and money.

ABOUT DAVE EAST:
Dave East was born and raised in Harlem, inspired by older generation East Coast rappers ranging from Notorious B.I.G. to Styles P, Jadakiss, Cam’ron, and Big Pun. After a college basketball stint, Dave’s attention gravitated full time to music, with a prolific outpouring of mixtapes that started in 2010. Dave’s 7th mixtape, 2014’s Black Rose caught Nas by surprise, and resulted in Dave’s signing to Nas’ Mass Appeal imprint. Subsequent mixtapes Hate Me Now (2015) and Kairi Chanel (2016, named for Dave’s daughter), boasted a collective guest list topped by Nas, Styles P, Pusha T, Jadakiss, 2 Chainz, Fabolous, Cam’ron, Beanie Sigel, Rico Love, and The Game, to name just a few. Kairi Chanel led off with the storytelling visual for “Keisha” followed by “Type Of Time”, with nearly 10 million combined YouTube views to date. Dave jumped onto the Def Jam roster in late 2016, where he was also featured on the now Gold Certified Hamilton mixtape with “Wrote My Way Out”. Paranoia: A True Story marked Dave’s official Def Jam debut EP in August 2017 (with “Perfect” featuring Chris Brown; and “The Hated”). The Paranoia 2 mixtape followed in January 2018. Dave East’s profile was amped considerably on his 23-city cross-country Paranoia 2 Tour of the U.S. in January-February 2018.
ABOUT STYLES P
Platinum selling artist David Styles aka Styles P, is no ordinary rapper. He embodies true thug-life to the fullest, and then some. His blood gauging lyrics will leave you cringing and wounded. A hardcore runner whose thugged-out persona leaves admirers and challengers for the chase—and he’s so far ahead of the game that there isn’t anyone who’s remotely close to catching up. Simply put: Styles P. keeps it so real, one look and, he’ll make any “Ruff-Neck” go soft. And these aren’t attributes he chose to take on willingly, these traits stem from personal experiences that have molded him to be one of the most—if not the most—grimiest and most lethal rappers around today. Born in Corona, Queens, Styles moved to Yonkers NY at the age of seven, but considers himself to be a Yonkers man due to the fact that he has spent a third of his life there, on Groshan Ave. His mother, a South African woman from Johannesburg, and his father, a Brooklyn native, have been instrumental in his development as a lyricist—whether directly or indirectly. The streets have taught him what it means to be loyal, to be aware, to beware and to know that life spares no one. Drugs, guns and stabbed backs become routine in the streets. Styles had to decipher between who had his back and the people who tried to knife it. “Those kats are still my boys and I’ve got to respect everything I’ve been through,” testifies Styles. “Even though I rap I still got the same niggas from day one.”
Today Styles owns Juices for Life – a chain of juice bars with locations in Yonkers, Brooklyn, and The Bronx which were opened after growing up not having access to healthy resources, and wanting to make sure the next generation didn’t have to experience a similar plight. |
