Child Sexual Abuse Lawsuit Dismissed Against Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears
The saga of the Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears‘ lawsuit that accused the comedians of underage sexual abuse is officialy over.
According to Deadline, the two accusers, who were underage at the time of the incidents they were suing about, have ended the lawsuit they filed several weeks ago in a Los Angeles courtroom against family friend, Haddish and Spears.
The two, who are brother and sister, have also put a dismissal with prejudice notice in federal court.
In a statement released Tuesday, the plaintiff, Jane Doe said, “My family and I have known Tiffany Haddish for many years – and we now know that she would never harm me or my brother or help anyone else do anything that could harm us,” Doe in a statement Tuesday. “We wish Tiffany the best and are glad that we can all put this behind us.”
The story, which has been reported extensively stemmed from a lawsuit that was filed in Los Angeles accusing Haddish and Spears of sexually abusing an underaged brother and sister. On August 30, the legal paperwork stated that the children, a 14-year-old girl, and a seven-year-old boy at the time, participated in two separate comedy skits back in 2013 and 2014 and were sexually on different occasions.
It was reported on Tuesday by Radar Online, that the brother and sister, who are now 22 and 15, made a deal with Haddish that blocked the original complaint filed in the courtroom from being seen by the general public.
Last month, The Daily Beast reported that the plaintiffs, who filed the lawsuit using the pseudonyms Jane and John Doe, accused Haddish and Spears of persuading the children to engage in sexually suggestive acts on camera.
They also stated in the lawsuit that Haddish was close to them and they referred to her as “Auntie Tiff.” She allegedly acknowledged them as her “niece” and “nephew.”
In 2013, the comedic pair recruited Jane for a comedy scene. Jane was instructed to view a video that showed college students arguing over a subway sandwich. In the video clip, the students started to eat the sandwiches in a manner that was sexually suggestive. They were “moaning and making sexual noises as they both ate the sandwich in a manner that simulated the act of fellatio,” the lawsuit stated.
In 2014, Haddish allegedly approached Jane’s mother with another offer, but this time, it involved Jane’s younger brother, John. The Girls Trip star allegedly informed the family that the video with John would be for a “sizzle reel” for Nickelodeon. Instead, John allegedly appeared in a video that was posted on Funny or Die as well as other various online platforms titled “The Mind of a Pedophile.”
Haddish and Spears were accused of intentional infliction of emotional distress, gross negligence, sexual battery, sexual harassment, and sexual abuse of a minor. In addition to those claims, Haddish had also been accused of negligent supervision/failure to warn, breach of fiduciary duty, and constructive fraud.
