20 Years After The Starbury Sneaker Launched, Stephon Marbury Wants To Bring It Back In 2026

Former NBA player, Stephon Marbury plans to bring back his signature sneakers, Starbury, which initially came out in 2006

Former NBA player and Chinese Basketball Association champion Stephon Marbury expects to have his signature sneakers, Starbury, in stores next year.

According to Complex, the former New York Knicks point guard, who launched his own affordable sneakers in 2006, plans to revitalize the footwear associated with him. While other sneaker brands like Nike, adidas, and Reebok were selling their most popular footwear for anywhere between $50 and more than $150 at the time, the Starburys were only retailing for $15, making it affordable for those who couldn’t or wouldn’t pay the higher prices for sneakers.

While speaking to the media outlet, he expressed a desire to bring back the sneakers for the summer of 2026, 20 years after its debut.

“I want to drop it next summer,” Starbury said. “Because after 2025, going into 2030, we’re going to see a whole new breed of athletes.”

Marbury admits that he only made money through the royalties of the Starbury. He wanted the community to benefit more from the affordability of the sneakers than for him to make a bigger profit.

“I only made money on a royalty basis,” he says. “And I did that specifically because I wanted people to know my commitment to the people. It was really for the people.”

He now feels that the knowledge he has acquired over the years and spending time in China has helped raise his business acumen, and he will do better at running the company this time around.

“And now, with all that I’ve learned and what I’ve done, I can put everything together and do it all over again with a way better structure. With a way better infrastructure.”

“It’s a blessing to have gone through that and then go to a place where they produce everything that’s pretty much in here. It’s made in China.”
