The Recording Academy Honors presented by The Black Music Collective (BMC) took place on January 29 at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles. The annual gathering brought together top artists, executives, and cultural leaders with a continued focus on fostering community, setting unified goals, and celebrating Black professionals across the music industry.
For the fourth year in a row, the evening was executive-produced by Massah David and Miatta Johnson, co-founders of internationally acclaimed creative production agency MVD Inc. Known for their visionary storytelling and immersive experiential experiences, the sisters led on shaping a culturally resonant experience that consistently stands out as one of GRAMMY Week’s most talked-about moments.
Massah and Miatta are the trusted partners of the BMC, translating vision into tangible platforms that elevate and empower Black professionals across the industry.
Honorees of the evening included:

Pharrell Williams, recipient of the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, honored for his boundary-pushing artistry and cultural leadership across music, fashion, and creative innovation

Brandy and Kirk Franklin, both honored with the Black Music Icon Award, recognizing their transformative legacies and lasting influence on R&B, gospel, and global Black music culture

Eve, honored with a GRAMMY Award, for her historic verse on The Roots’ classic record “You Got Me.”

Led by Music Director for the Recording Academy Honors Adam Blackstone, the program also featured special performances from John Legend, Clipse, Kehlani, Justin Timberlake, Leon Thomas, Coco Jones, FLO, Lecrae, PJ Morton, Brittney Spencer, Voices of Fire Choir, Darrel Walls, and Tamela Mann, showcasing an array of talent across genres. Also in attendance were artists, executives, and cultural tastemakers, including Teyana Taylor, Dr. Dre, Davido, Skepta, Ari Lennox, Tyler, The Creator, Niecy Nash, Omarion, Ty Dolla $ign, MAJOR., Ella Mai, Busta Rhymes, Destin Conrad, Durand Bernarr, Lalah Hathaway, and Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.
Justin Timberlake presented Pharrell the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award after a lively tribute of his iconic discography, with Tyler, The Creator sharing a heartfelt speech, giving gratitude to Pharrell for opening doors throughout his career. While receiving the Dr. Dre Global Impact Awards, Pharrell called upon U.S. leaders to have empathy, grace, and mercy for those not born in the country.
The Black Music Collective stands as a powerful testament to what’s possible when intentional leadership, creative excellence, and community come together with Massah and Miatta once again proving why they remain among the most influential creative producers shaping today’s cultural landscape.
