Manchester, UK-based producer Menace is having a banner year. His production on Desiigner‘s booming breakout hit “Panda,” has earned him a Track of the Year nomination from the BET Hip-Hop Awards. “Panda” was inarguably one of the biggest songs of the year, reaching No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and getting remixed by many rappers including Daddy Yankee, T-Pain, Lil Kim, Lupe Fiasco, and Meek Mill. Earlier this year, Menace inked a publishing deal with Tim Blacksmith‘s Stellar Songs, who also work with Sam Smith, Emili Sandé, Keizer, Labyrinth, Fetty Wap, and many more. His production was co-opted on Kanye West‘s “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 2,” which sampled “Panda” heavily. Explains Menace, “Being nominated for Track of the Year showed me that in life that when you put your heart into it, anything is possible.” Menace, born Adnan Khan, worked for two years as a mobile phone repairman to hold his own while he honed his craft, posting new beats made from scratch to his YouTube account every two to three days. “It took me years of grinding to see progress. My advice for others in the same situation is not to expect success to come overnight,” explains Menace.
