My Friends Are Better Than Yours Featuring Derrick McKinney
To be an independent label is a tiresome job and many don’t have the business acumen to succeed in this industry. But, to be in business since 2011 and to STILL be doing things is a testimony to dedication and business intelligence.
Derrick McKinney, co-founder and CEO of L.O.U.D. Muzik (The acronym is Live Out Ur Dreams) has been part of the Hip-Hop culture and a mainstay of the Houston music scene for many years as he built his entrepreneurial empire. As he got his start working for a burgeoning clothing label, FUBU, he built upon his marketing success to start the company that he still runs today. With the likes of artists such as a Houston legend Lil Flip, he is now directing the careers of artists like Skyrah, Fat Pimp, and Khody, with a new project from his partner in the label, T!m Ned, McKinney is still utilizing his expertise to stay a force within the Houston scene and beyond.
McKinney has been running his business for almost 25 years and doesn’t look to be stopping anytime soon! We will be discussing how he stays relevant in the industry, dealing with artists, and what’s next for him, and his artists at L.O.U.D. Muzik.
Also, look out for new projects from L.O.U.D. Muzik:
