Omarion Will Be 'Involved' in AllBlk Series

Omari Ishmael Grandberry is slated to star in a series that is loosely based on his life as the lead singer of an all-male singing group.

Grandberry was the lead singer of B2K, but his fans and music lovers know him as Omarion. The former group member is now ready to star in a series titled, Involved, which will be seen on the AMC Networks streaming service, ALLBLK. The announcement also states that there will be a national casting call to find the co-lead for the upcoming series.

AMC Networks has announced that the singer will star in the “scripted dramedy” from singer/songwriter/author/actor Omarion. He will also serve in the role of the series co-creator and executive producer alongside Tommy Morgan Jr., Kevin G. Boyd, Deji LaRay and Michelle Le Fleur. The first episode is slated to be written by Boyd and directed by Bentley Kyle Evans.

The premise of Involved follows the character, OB Sharp who has been involved in a boy band since he was a child. As he is preparing to head out on a worldwide tour, he secretly wants to leave the group so he can concentrate on being a more present father. He also wants to have a better co-parenting relationship with his baby’s mother, who also lives in his guesthouse with the new man she is dating.

Maya, who is his best friend, is the only person who has understood him and his lifestyle. She is also bisexual and although they have a close, intimate relationship, they were never physical with each other. But, after they meet Edy, an eclectic flower shop owner with a free spirit and fluid lifestyle, they all become involved and are now, what they call, a throuple.

Now, with his new lifestyle, relationship, and family dynamics shifting in such a short time, he has to adjust to all of it while also pursuing new business ventures.

During this year’s American Black Film Festival, there will be a casting call for a leading role as part of ALLBLK and the American Black Film Festival’s ‘Shoot Your Shot’ taking place in June 2023 in Miami Beach. Actor Lance Gross will be there as the celebrity reader for the casting call.

The casting call is for a Black woman between 25-40 to play a character in her early to mid-30s. This will take place during the 2023 American Black Film Festival which is slated for June 14-18 in Miami Beach.
