Memphis Grizzlies Suspend Ja Morant After Another Alleged Gun Incident Caught on Video

The Memphis Grizzlies had an eventful year this past NBA season and it looks like it may be an interesting start to the NBA offseason. The team’s star player, Ja Morant, has allegedly repeated the same action that earned him an eight-game suspension during the season.

According to ESPN, the NBA team has suspended Morant due to an Instagram Live post showing him flashing a gun over the weekend. The young player was previously suspended earlier this year when, on Instagram Live, he pulled out a gun on camera.

The Memphis Grizzlies have stated that Morant has been suspended from all team activities (although the playoffs are still in play, the teams who did not make the playoffs or have been eliminated are not active but can participate in team activities) after the now-deleted video appeared on social media Saturday night.

The NBA has released a statement pertaining to the alleged incident.

“We are aware of the social media post involving Ja Morant and are in the process of gathering more information,” NBA spokesperson Mike Bass said in a written statement on Sunday.

The person driving the vehicle the young player was in, Davonte Pack, has been involved in several prior incidents that have caused controversy for Morant.

Pack was the person who, along with Morant, punched a teenager in the head at a pickup game at Morant’s house last year. The young basketball prospect is suing Morant over the incident where the Grizzles player was accused of going back into his house and coming back with a gun in his waistband after the incident.

Morant and his friends were also involved in a reported incident after playing the Indiana Pacers last year. Some members of the Indiana Pacers alleged that Morant or one of his associates shined a laser beam at them. After an investigation by the NBA, it was said that a gun was present.  But Morant wasn’t charged because there was no precise proof that it was him.

Another troubling incident occurred at a mall when a security guard accused Morant of threatening him and stated that one of Morant’s friends also shoved him.

And. of course earlier this year in March, the All-Star point guard was filmed at a Denver strip club waving a gun while shirtless, after playing a game against the Denver Nuggets.
