Dating App Upfront Reimagines Black Relationships

(Dallas, TX) The Upfront app recently launched this past summer 2026, on iOS and Android, reshaping the idea of healthy Black relationships with a refined approach to readiness and sustainability. Since its beta beginnings last year, Upfront learned a great deal from its audience and went back to the drawing board to create unique dual experiences for single Black professional men and women. With 63% of members being 40 or older, about one in four members clear 85% of the readiness gate following an assessment.

The Goal is the same but the route has evolved: Upfront is still building toward one million Black marriages by 2035. The app is a new category built for Black professionals who want marriage and are willing to prepare for it.

The Route : Upfront is relationship readiness infrastructure built for Black professionals who are intentional about readiness before relationship and marriage. Members complete a science-backed journey, developed with a licensed psychologist, that builds emotional capacity before connection is unlocked. Women follow The Read (Vetting Mechanism) and men follow The Blueprint (Framework). Connection opens only after the work is done, and everyone a member is introduced to got there the same way.

The Formula : The algorithm makes recommendations, the member makes informed decisions!! Upfront is building its membership through various experiences connecting its audience to pop up events in selected markets, the Upfront podcast, forward-thinking content and their innovative approach to courting: “The Standard Card” (For women). The card turns a woman’s standard into something she can hand across a table. It asks a man for effort before attention. The Standard cards went live in October 2026.

This past September, Upfront founder John Graham’s recent post went viral on Instagram with close to 10k likes saying, “Men have more access to women than they’ve ever had in the history of humanity. And that’s the problem. The problem is when they meet the one, they don’t know how to keep her.” In meeting members where they are, he says “We are not building a place to meet. We are building the standard you have to meet. For a woman, Upfront is a vetting mechanism. For a man, it’s where he builds the skills relationships actually run on.”
