V Records, a division of tech-based entertainment company VME, announces the video release to “It Is What It Is,” by South Jersey producer-rapper Kev Rodgers, featuring Niko Brim.

East Coast grit drips from the Kev Rodgers-produced track to help usher in the vibe — acceptance — on “It Is What it is.”

The crooning of “I moved from my old house, and I moved from my old friends,” loops across Kev’s composition, as he and his V Records label mate, MC-producer, Niko Brim, sermonize their truths over a bounce beat with crisp bars.

Rodgers has been producing since age 14, opening eyes with co-production on Jaden Smith’s hit, “Icon,” which underscored his name in hit-maker orbits.

Plus, he’s flavored projects for Rico Nasty, Mir Fontane, Fetty Wap, Ish Williams, Shaqeyah, and Kenif Muse, plus collaborated with Jahlil Beats, Mel Choas Lewis, and Mike Zombie.

Brim hails from Mount Vernon and believes “Black women are the cornerstones” — something he rhymed throughout his last single, “Hard to believe,” which tackles the nation’s harsh realities. He performed during Rapsody’s tour and currently serves as an ambassador alongside 93-year old Ms. Opal Lee for the national petition to make Juneteenth a federally recognized holiday.

Niko Brim’s mother is legendary fashion stylist Misa Hylton. A new Netflix documentary, “The Remix: Hip Hop X Fashion,” details her culture-defining story. Brim, with his siblings, stars in the visual campaign for Misa’s new MCM fashion collection in celebration of the film.

“Your rarity is your superpower. We each provide value to the world,” says Rodgers, who is building his entertainment brand under his “RARE Ones” mantra and banner, which stands for “Remember and remind everyone.” His Instagram conversation series, What makes this beat is RARE? covers the craftsmanship of producing with creators from around the globe.

“As a producer, I try to make songs that make people feel heard,” said Darrien “Kev Rodgers” Scott, who has remained transparent about his healing journey.

With the support of V Records, Rodgers found the balance between nurturing his artistry as a rapper with his skills behind the boards. He’s committed to prioritizing his own music, while staying present for peers that call on his creative drops.

The video for “It is what it is”was filmed in New York City, produced by Plumtree Productions, and directed and edited by Rare Ones Entertainment.
