Deion Sanders Wants NCAA Or The Rose Bowl To Reimburse Players For Stolen Jewelry
After some of his football players were robbed of their jewelry at a recent game on Sunday, Oct. 29, Colorado Buffaloes head coach, Deion Sanders is suggesting that the NCAA and/or the Rose Bowl should reimburse the students for their alleged stolen items.
According to CBS Sports, at a recent press conference with reporters, Sanders stated that since the theft occurred in the visitor’s locker room at the home of the UCLA Bruins, either the NCAA or the Rose Bowl should pay the value of the jewelry that was taken from the five players who came back to the locker room to discover the items missing. The value of the chains taken was approximated at several thousands of dollars.

“Our kids got robbed during the game last week,” Sanders said. “I think that’s a travesty. I would expect the NCAA to do something about that. … This is the Rose Bowl. They said the granddaddy of ’em all, right? I’m sure Granddaddy had some money. Grandpa should have some money to give these kids.”
UCLA’s athletic department confirmed that the Pasadena Police Department started an investigation into the alleged theft.
“I’m going to have a list made out from these young men, and I know they’re going to be truthful about what they lost, so we can try and get it back for them,” the Buffaloes coach stated. “They may not be able to get the items back, but they should be able to reimburse them. That was unbelievable. … It don’t make no sense when you’re out there ballin’ and playing your heart out and you get robbed at the same [time]. I hope we can do something about that, NCAA. You do something about everything else. Do something about that.”
Fox Sports reported that UCLA coach, Chip Kelly commented on the alleged theft after finding out about the incident.
“I was just told walking over here, awful. The Pasadena Police were looking into it, but I literally just found out one minute ago.
“That’s awful for anybody,” Kelly c0ntinued. “You would think that when you go anywhere that your valuables are safe. But I don’t know anything more than I literally just found out one second ago before I walked out here.”
The Buffaloes will play their next game at home against Oregon State on Saturday, Nov. 4.
