LeBron James Reveals Bronny James Could Be Back On Basketball Court Soon

Bronny James Finally Played In An HBCU Game

Bronny James actually played in an HBCU basketball game this week, although people were hoping when he was deciding on where to play, he would have taken his talents to an HBCU, but, it’s the closest we can get for the time being.

According to HBCU Gameday, the USC freshman played against an HBCU school, Alabama State on Thursday, Dec. 19. Before James accepted the scholarship offer from the University of Southern California, he was given offers from two North Carolina HBCUs, North Carolina Central and North Carolina A&T back in 2020. He shunned both, along with many others to stay with his family in California where his father, LeBron James holds court for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The first HBCU game that Bronny appeared in was a good one for the basketball player as his team came out victorious against Alabama State, 79-59. This was the team’s first victory since LeBron Jr. came back from a cardiac arrest he suffered in July. According to The Los Angeles Times, Bronny was able to give an immediate spark to his team when he hit two quick three-pointers after the start of the second half. He helped bridge a wider gap against Alabama State as they shrunk a 26-point deficit down to 14.

“He’s a terrific shooter,” USC coach Andy Enfield said of the freshman. “He just needs to be able to shoot when he gets winded. Tonight it was nice to see him because he was able to run up and down the court and was able to make a couple of threes when he was somewhat tired. He’s one of our better shooters on the team and he’s also a very smart player with the ball in his hands.”

Bronny is starting to get his legs back as this was the longest he has played in a game this season. He was on the floor for a season-high 17 minutes, 32 seconds. He ended up with six points and pulled down three rebounds, had an assist, and recorded a steal. He also committed three turnovers and the referees called a pair of first-half charges against him.

The next game for USC is on Dec. 28 when they head to Oregon for another contest before ending their year at neighboring Oregon State on Dec. 30.
