Atlanta’s independent film community packed 4 Elements for the premiere of They Took My Daughter. Filmmakers, actors, media professionals, and supporters gathered for an evening that seamlessly blended networking, celebration, and cinema.

The edge-of-your-seat thriller follows Adrianne (Vanessa Simmons), a protective single mother whose world is turned upside down when her college-aged daughter, Nikole (Angelique Valentine), vanishes after accepting a job at an elite VIP nightclub. While Nikole is initially captivated by the high-paying allure, Adrianne senses immediate danger and demands she quit. When Nikole returns to the club to resign, she accidentally witnesses a heinous crime and is abducted before she can report the incident. She is taken to a remote compound controlled by a dangerous kingpin named Xavier (Jordi Vilasuso), where young women are trapped in a hidden world of exploitation. Realizing the police are moving too slowly, Adrianne launches an independent search by going undercover into the dark trafficking network, risking her own life to rescue her daughter before it is too late.

Actor Dennis White, who delivers a supporting performance as one of the film’s villains, adds a riveting, intense, and violent element to the production. His performance also reflects casting director Tim Cruz’s ability to match actors with roles that heighten the film’s emotional intensity and realism. The MegaMind Media production also features strong performances from Darrin Dewitt Henson and Vanessa Simmons. The 90-minute film is currently streaming on Starz under its Thriller, Suspense, and Drama categories.

Beyond the screening itself, the energy moved from the lounge to the venue’s rooftop space, where creatives reconnected, introduced new projects, and celebrated the collaborative work that brought everyone together. While many attendees gathered primarily for the film, the evening also served as a reminder that premieres provide a vital opportunity for actors, producers, writers, publicists, and media professionals to strengthen relationships and support independent storytelling. As Atlanta remains one of the nation’s leading production hubs, evenings like this demonstrate the continued strength of the city’s creative community, supported by enthusiastic audiences and a thriving network of entertainment professionals.
