A visionary and creative from a young age, Brooklyn native, Kevin Benoit, 28, graduated from high school at age 16 and went on to graduate from John Jay College of Criminal Justice by age 20 in 2007. At 17, and as freshman in college, he founded Parlé Magazine, an urban entertainment magazine that focused on literacy through entertainment. The print publication was available until 2012.

These days the magazine is primarily online but exclusive, well written content remains a standard for the publication. With writers throughout the country, Benoit has helped influence and inspire content creators for over a decade. Over the years, Parlé magazine has provided a stepping-stone individuals throughout urban entertainment and continues to provide inspiration for inspiring entrepreneurs, writers, photographers and graphic designers.
Empowering the urban community has been a goal for Kevin for the past 11 years and remains a driving force in the work he does. Shortly after launching the magazine he launched Parlé Entertainment creating a variety of events that have ranged from poetry slams to fashion shows, a New Year’s Eve Masquerade Ball, a Mother’s Day boat ride and much more. This has led to opportunities in event production, including his ongoing venture, Georgia – the play. Benoit has served as the executive producer and director for Georgia since 2011.
Originally a one-woman play, Georgia is now a full cast production, which hits the stage again on July 28th for a run of 9 shows, three of which will be Off-Broadway. The production looks at the topic of rape in relationships and while it’s entertaining, it carries a strong message for young adults as well as opportunities for healing for victims. In addition to his theater endeavors, Benoit continues his work as editor of Parlé Magazine www.parlemag.com. He also writes several stories a month having interviewed and featured a multitude of artists, which include, Lil’ Wayne, R. Kelly, Tyrese, Trey Songz and many more.Benoit hopes to continue to inspire, whether through the magazine, the events or his additional ventures. When he’s not working in entertainment and media, he also works with young students and teens as a mentor, English tutor, youth advocate and workshop facilitator.
