The Industry Cosign Spotlight: Tuffy Questell
Tuffy is one of the most recognized names in early Hip Hop, especially in New York. For 14 years, Tuffy was one of the hosts of Video Music Box along with VJ Ralph McDaniels and in their 30 years on air, they interviewed every artist imaginable in the 80s, 90s & 2k! While Ralph continues to work the magic that is VMB, Tuffy went on to pursue his childhood dream of becoming an actor. He started as a child doing magazines, commercials & radio ads. As he got into his teens, he wanted to further his education & be as smart as his teachers said he was & his parents hoped he be…but he truly missed acting. As he made his way back to acting, he saw the void in great work for actors, so he did his research and tapped into his talent coordinator days at Classic Concept Productions and he started casting for film and television! Tuffy would spend the better part of the next 2 decades casting for the likes of Sidney Lumet, Spike Lee, Jim Sheridan, George Tolman Jr., and the list goes on!

Tuffy is quoted for saying as an actor you get to do work that inspires you and inspires others, but as a casting director you get a chance to inspire someone else to aspire to the greatest of heights, self evaluation, growth & success! That quote would inspire him to return to acting & since his return Tuffy has done commercials for Progressive, Visa, Time Warner, Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, Sprite, Hewlett Packard, Barclay’s Bank, just to name a few, not too mention that’s he’s also made cameos on Person Of Interest, Gotham, Law & Order & spent 2 seasons on both The Naked Brothers Band as well as How To Make It In America. He recently had his first opportunity to become part of the gore film world in Condemned.
Tuffy continues to grow in everything he sets his heart and mind to achieve! He credits God & his amazingly supportive family! Tuffy can be found on social media at @tuffybxnyc.
