Rick Ross Donates $30K to Keep Fayette County Free Clinic Open
The generosity of hip-hop entrepreneur Rick Ross isn’t often told but he comes through to stop a Fayette County clinic from shutting down.
According to WSB-TV, the Florida-bred businessman saved a clinic from closing when he donated $30,000 to keep its doors from shuttering. Ross presented the Fayette C.A.R.E. Clinic with the necessary funds when he gave them a check that will help them keep operating.
The Fayette C.A.R.E. Clinic helps people 18 years of age and older by providing free medical care.
“A clinic like this means a lot to me. I lost my father at an early age and I felt like one of the reasons I lost him so early is because of his lack of healthcare,” Ross said.
After giving the check to the free clinic, Geneva Weaver, Executive Director of Fayette C.A.R.E. Clinic expressed her thanks to the Maybach Music Group executive. “Thank you very much for your donation of the $30,179,” she said to him.
Before Ross stepped in, Fayette C.A.R.E. had previously raised $19,000 of its $50,000 goal before Ross saved them in the end.
People who visit the clinic typically don’t have insurance and come from underserved areas. The clinic provides medical care and allows people to see a medical professional, receive preventative care, and get the medications they can’t afford.
“The patients that come to this clinic, all of them, their income level is 200% below the poverty level. The national poverty level,” Weaver said.
This may not be the last time that Ross lends a hand to the free clinic as he promises to help them if needed.
“I look forward to continue to help out as much as possible. I consider you family, friends, and of course neighbors,” Ross said.
The rapping entrepreneur has stated his love for Fayette County previously when he said that he intends to run for mayor next year. He recently had a car and bike show on his property, which he calls, The Promised Land.
