Now we know the reason Rick Ross wasn’t rounding up his buffaloes on his property. He was at his former high school donating several thousand of dollars to eight Miami students.

According to Billboard, the buffalo owner has collaborated with Tariq Cherif, who is the co-founder of the music concert series, Rolling Loud. The pair have collectively donated $10,000 worth of scholarships to eight Miami students from his alma mater, Carol City Senior High School in Miami Gardens, Fla.

The rewarded students were also given tickets to attend Rolling Loud Miami in July.

“You know, to come give back to the community right here, that means a lot,” Ross said while he was at the school.

City of Miami Gardens Councilman Reggie Leon and school board member Dr. Steve Gallon II were also present alongside Ross and Cherif.

“On Monday, Rolling Loud co-founder Tariq Cherif and rapper Rick Ross joined City of Miami Gardens Councilman Reggie Leon and School Board Member Dr. Steve Gallon II to present eight high-achieving graduating seniors from Miami Norland and Miami Carol City Senior High Schools with scholarships that will go toward their college tuition, as part of their Boss Up Day 2023 event.

“It’s not a gift,” Cherif said. “They earned it.”

CBS News reported that Miami Gardens Mayor Rodney Harris commented on the generosity of Ross and his being there at the school to give back to the children.

“For him to be here and pass out these wonderful gifts, it’s a great experience for our children. But it’s more of a great experience for this entire community because it shows that this community cares about its very own.”

The money donated for the scholarships will go toward college tuition for the students who were rewarded.

One of the recipients De’Zyre Frederick also commented on the gift received. “I am nothing but blessed. It’s good to see the alumni come back and give back to the students which is something that is so amazing.”
