| Philthy Rich is known for his street cred, but the polished sounds of N.E.R.N.L. 4 stand-outs like “Dope Boy” (featuring rising Bay Area spitters Rexx Life Raj and ALLBLACK) show his credibility as a rap professional. Philthy claims he never went after the title of best rapper, but his grind has kept him growing in skill and taken his plays to million marks. “At the end of the day, I get noticed for my work ethic,” says Philthy, “another video, another CD…as soon as I release something I’ve got more already done. To get to where you want to get to with music you’ve got to really eat, sleep, and s**t this s**t. You know what I’m saying? There’s so many people that rap, so many people in the same boat as you, that once you get too content with it and comfortable with it, that’s when somebody steps in and takes your place. I’m not going to be done, I’m not going to be content until I reach where I’m trying to get.” |

| N.E.R.N.L. 4 marks over a dozen studio albums for Philthy Rich, on top of his huge catalog of mixtapes, singles and more. But this album isn’t just another project on the stack for Philthy. As he moves into rap veteran status he’s focused more than ever on supporting other artists with his work. “I’m about showing love and paying homage to the up and coming, and the ones that did it before me. That’s how I look at it. It’s a lot of Bay Area artists on this new tape because I salute all the up and coming artists that’s doing they thing here.”
The N.E.R.N.L. 4 album does indeed salute a lot of artists, with features from in and outside of the Bay–Mozzy, Tee Grizzley, Mistah F.A.B., Kevin Allen (fka Erk tha Jerk), and Slimmy B (SOB x RBE) to name a few. With another solid full-length project on the books, Philthy Rich is continuing to tour and grind in the studio as always, and will be dropping more visuals from N.E.R.N.L. 4 soon. |
