Comedy Central Expands its Annual Up Next Showcase

Comedy Central builds on its success of last year’s Up Next showcase at Clusterfest, featuring the network’s rising stars, by including another stand-up showcase and adding a variety showcase. The weekend will highlight over 20 comedians with two separate and distinct stand-up showcases taking place on Friday, June 1, hosted by Chris Redd with special guest Tim Dillon and Saturday, June 2, hosted by Jullian McCollough with special guest Mark Normand; and a brand new variety showcase taking place on Sunday, June 3, hosted by Matthew Broussard. All shows will be held at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in the 415 Comedy Club room.

Clusterfest is co-produced by Comedy Central, the #1 brand in comedy, Superfly, the brains behind Bonnaroo, and Outside Lands co-producer Another Planet Entertainment. The three-day comedy and music festival takes place in San Francisco June 1-3, 2018 and tickets are on sale at www.clusterfest.com.

Up Next is an annual showcase featuring a wide range of diversely talented comedians who have been selected by Comedy Central following a nation-wide search with showcases across the country. The showcases serve as an important step in Comedy Central’s development process and are designed to spotlight the most exciting new voices in comedy. This year’s addition to stand-up is the Up Next Variety showcase which features some of the most exciting and innovative sketch/character/musical performers in a multimedia show that includes both live performance and pre-taped sketch videos starring each variety performer.

The curated showcases will feature the following comedians:

Friday, June 1 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. (stand-up)

Saturday, June 2 from 5:45-6:45 p.m. (stand-up)

Sunday, June 3 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. (variety)

Performers from past showcases have gone on to make more appearances on Comedy Central including on Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents…which for many comedians is their first solo stand-up special. This second annual Clusterfest is headlined by Jon Stewart, Amy Schumer, The Lonely Island, Trevor Noah and John Mulaney, the first of its kind comedy and music festival features more than 70 comedians and musicians performing across multiple stages. In addition to comedy and musical performances, Clusterfest attendees will step into the worlds of their favorite television shows with interactive attractions from South Park, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, Double Dare and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
