Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors Acknowledge Angela Bassett After Being Snubbed for Supporting Actress Award
At Sunday night’s Academy Award presentation, the world reacted in pretty much the same way we responded when we witnessed Queen Ramonda dying in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Viewers were in complete disbelief and shock when Angela Bassett did not win the Oscar for supporting actress for her aforementioned role in the successful Black Panther sequel!
Later in the program, the two main actors for Creed III, Michael B. Jordan, and Jonathan Majors when appearing at the podium as presenters, acknowledged the What’s Love Got to Do With It actor before announcing the winner of the next award.
Jordan, in relation to his introduction, as Killmonger in the Black Panther movie, repeated his first words to her when he stated, “Hey Auntie.”
Immediately after Jordan said that Majors looks at her and says, “We love you.”

Bassett, who became the very first actor to receive an Oscar nomination for a Marvel movie, was expected to take home the coveted prize for the best supporting actress. Instead, to the shock and surprise of many, that was awarded to Halloween actress, Jamie Lee Curtis. She won the honor for her role in Everything Everywhere All At Once.
This nomination was Bassett’s second one. She was nominated in 1994 for her portrayal of legendary rock and roll singer, Tina Turner in What’s Love Got to Do With It. She took home the award.
Last month, Bassett won big at the 54th annual NAACP Image Awards. The 64-year-old won the Entertainer of the Year award. She also brought home two additional statuettes when she was announced as the best actress in a drama series for her role in 9-1-1 and also for winning best supporting actress in a motion picture for her role as Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
