Flavor Flav Sings National Anthem At Milwaukee Bucks Home Opener
There have been many celebrities who have sung the national anthem at various sports events over the years, some became classic, others disasters. Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav is the most recent entertainer to don the mic at a sports event when he performed the traditional pre-game activity.
The NBA just started their current season and the Milwaukee Bucks had Flav singing the national anthem before they played the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday. It was the Bucks’ first home game at Fiserve Forum. Flav is known more for being the hype man and occasional emcee to Public Enemy frontman, Chuck D, as well as his various runs on reality TV. Although Flav is a solid piano player, he is not recognized for his singing abilities, but, there he was singing in front of a stadium crowd.
As he stood at the microphone sporting a Milwaukee Bucks jersey, it was a situation we are not used to seeing, but, you can tell by the effort, he took this moment seriously and it looks like he gave it his best.
YEAH BOY.

The clock-wearing personality took to X, the site formerly known as Twitter to give his thoughts on his performance, admitting that doing so marked off an item on his bucket list.
The anthem was a long time bucket list item,,, that was fun!
I can’t live my life worried about what people might say about me. I won’t let that stop me from trying new things and doing things I wanna do. Some people might not like that. But a sure failure is if you stop trying.

Flav did get some feedback from X users on his unexpected showing, some gave him credit for his efforts, others, not so much. The crowd definitely reacted to his performance.
Props to him.
Tough song to sing.
He did better than I expected.
Maybe next time, take off the hat.

The Bucks lost the game, 127-110.
Flav, along with many celebrated hip-hop artists such as the Beastie Boys, DJ Hurricane, Kurtis Blow, Kid’ n Play, Soulsonic Force, Roxanne Shante, CL Smooth, Melle Mel and Scorpio, and The Sugarhill Gang was scheduled to perform earlier this month in Washington, D.C. The National Celebration of Hip-Hop was slated to take place at West Potomac Park on the National Mall on Oct. 6–7 but was postponed until the spring, according to the website.
