Ciara Says Breakup With Future Brought Clarity For Her To ‘Level Up’
Ever since Ciara Wilson came into the music game, she has experienced success. She released her Goodies album back in 2004 and has been on the public scene ever since. In an exclusive interview with Women’s Health, she briefly mentions what placed her on the right path to how she was able to free herself to Level Up to become the woman she is today.
Before the singer and entrepreneur married Denver Broncos quarterback and Super Bowl champion, Russell Wilson, she was in a relationship with Nayvadius DeMun Cash, who we all know as rapper Future. The couple started dating in 2013 but were already broken up by 2014. The union brought the birth of their son, Future Zahir. The breakup was not a friendly, nor private one as their drama played out in public.
Ciara tells Women’s Health that after the separation from her son’s father, clarity started to set in and she hasn’t looked back since.
“I told myself I’ve got to figure out how to navigate in the next chapter of my life,” she tells the media outlet. “All the things I was aspiring to have at that time, even thinking about love, I was like, It’s going to happen when it’s supposed to. But I can’t love anybody to the best of my ability if I’m not loving on myself. I can’t be the best mom if I’m not loving on myself. So I put more focus on me, taking care of me; it was the best thing I could have done.”
After experiencing the trials and tribulations during her time with Future, she gained the wisdom and clearness needed to build with her husband, Russell. They have maintained several businesses and the singer is restarting her singing career as she has recently released two singles that will appear on her upcoming album.
As Ciara is taking that 1,2 Step path to her music career, she says, “It’s knowing what gives you a release, knowing what gives you joy. Go to that.”
