A hard-working mixtape rapper and a blue-collar sensibility, Taylor Gang consigliere Chevy Woods relocated from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles early in 2017, and embraced the flashing lights. On his Exactly What They Want mixtape, though, Chevy left Los Angeles to tap back into his Pittsburgh sound. With stories about his time on the streets, hustling and being with the homies, the project has Chevy Woods delivering powerful tracks from top to bottom. Featuring Wiz Khalifa and K Camp, along with production by Bobby Johnson, Ricky P, Beat Mechanics, and more, Exactly What They Want comes ahead of Chevy’s forthcoming album, releasing 2018.
Completing a March Madness Tour, and releasing several loose videos, Chevy has been quietly working while gearing up for a big year ahead. Exactly What They Want follows Chevy’s late 2016 mixtape Gang Shit Only, hosted by Trap-A-Holics. Gang Shit Only capped off a busy 2016 for Chevy Woods, marked by plenty of new music and fruitful business partnerships. Chevy kicked off the year with …And The Story Goes, a four-part visual EP that chronicled his rise in the world of Hip-Hop. Chevy also treated his fans to numerous freestyles over famous rap beats, including freestyles over Fat Joe & Remy Ma’s “All The Way Up“ and Bryson Tiller’s “Don’t,” and appeared on several tracks on Taylor Gang’s compilation tape TGOD Vol. 1. Beyond music, Woods has recently been in the spotlight for his culinary skills, which have been featured by Edible Ink and First We Feast, and he partnered with Ethika to release a signature line of men’s briefs.
