Tiger Woods’ 15-Year-Old Son Competes In Pre-Qualifier For Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches
The legacy of Pro Hall of Fame Golfer, Tiger Woods may be extended if things go well on Thursday, Feb. 22 when the legend’s son, Charlie Woods brings his golf equipment to Florida.
According to The PGA Tour, Woods will be playing in the pre-qualifier for the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches that started at 7:39 a.m. The son of Tiger played at Lost Lake Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Florida, one of four pre-qualifying sites. The top players will advance to the Monday qualifier, from which four players will earn spots in the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches. That tournament will take place from Feb. 29-March 3 at PGA National’s Champion Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Woods did not have a strong opening round as he finished 16-over-86 with four bogeys, two double bogeys, and a 12-shot on the par-4 7th hole. Yet, if he is able to rank among the top 25 finishers, he’ll live another day to pursue his dream and play in Monday’s qualifier, where four players will earn a spot on the field at PGA National. If Woods does well enough to earn a spot, he will make his first start on the PGA Tour at 15 years, and 21 days old. He will make his debut at an earlier age than his father, who did so when he was 16 years old.
But, if Woods does not make the cut this time, there is no doubt he will follow in his father’s footsteps. The 15-year-old has already played with his father in the last four PNC Championships. Although the pair has yet to win, the duo came close when they finished as runner-up three years ago in 2021.
