Marquee Event of 2024 NAN Annual Convention Recognizes Cultural, Business, and Health Leaders Who Use Their Platform to Advance Dr. King’s Dream of a Just, Equal Nation

New York, NY (March 28, 2024) – Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder and President of the National Action Network (NAN), today announced Emmy Award-nominated actor Anthony Anderson will return as host of the Keepers of the Dream Awards – the headline event of the NAN Annual Convention – held on Wednesday, April 10th.

Every year, Rev. Sharpton and NAN recognize leaders in culture, entertainment, sports, business, health, and other fields who continue the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Rev. Sharpton will once again be joined by Martin Luther King III and Arndrea Waters King in presenting to this year’s honorees, who include: EGOT Award-winner Whoopi Goldberg; Michelle Gadsden-Williams, Managing Director & Global Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, BlackRock; Dr. Phillip Ozuah, President & CEO, Montefiore Einstein; and Caroline Wanga, President & CEO at ESSENCE Ventures.

“Keepers of the Dream is a testament to the change makers who use their platforms to advance Dr. King’s dream for an equitable nation,” said Rev. Al Sharpton, Founder and President of NAN. “I am honored to recognize this year’s honorees, who are beacons of hope as we fight back against the attacks on DEI, voting rights, access to healthcare, and other key issues. I also want to thank Anthony Anderson for returning as this year’s host.”

This year’s NAN Convention, which will be held from April 10th through April 13th, comes at a pivotal moment for civil rights and social justice. In the last year, affirmative action in higher education was gutted by the Supreme Court; diversity, equity, and inclusion has come under assault from right-wing legal activists; and violent acts of hate have continued against Black and Brown communities. To galvanize the fight against these attacks, Rev. Sharpton will bring together leaders in government, civil rights, the Black Church, media, entertainment, sports, and finance for a robust, four-day discussion on where we go from here. Attendees this year include Stacey Abrams, Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski, Robert Smith, Attorney Ben Crump, and more.
