Adidas Basketball Re-Launches The Harden Vol. 1 ‘Pioneer’
adidas Basketball re-launches the Harden Vol. 1 “Pioneer” during the 10th anniversary of the footwear
- adidas Basketball re-launches the Harden Vol. 1 “Pioneer” during the 10th anniversary of the silhouette, celebrating a shoe that helped establish James Harden as one of the game’s most disruptive voices in performance and culture
- The silhouette comes back with a Restomod execution retaining its creative design identity, while updating the Hyperboost midsole for a lighter-weight feel and greater return underfoot
- The Harden Vol. 1 “Pioneer” first launched in China on August 26, 2026, to align with James Harden’s birthday, ahead of its global release on October 15, 2026, on adidas.com and select retailers at $140.00 USD/EUR
Originally introduced as the first chapter of the adidas and James Harden partnership, Harden Vol. 1 challenged the traditional approach to signature footwear by bringing James’ creativity, personality, and performance needs directly into the design process. Ten years later, Harden Vol. 1 returns as a faithful recreation of the original silhouette, updated with one key evolution: Hyperboost cushioning in the midsole for a lighter-weight feel and greater energy return.
“I wanted to bring the Harden Vol. 1 back because of what it represented,” said James Harden. “It was the first shoe we really built together from the ground up. The details, the stories and the way it looked all represented who I was at the time. Bringing it back almost exactly how it was, but updating the performance with Hyperboost, feels like the right way to celebrate it.”
The original Harden Vol. 1 embodied James’ disruptive style on and off the court, with design details inspired by his journey, family and approach to the game. The Restomod honors that original vision by keeping the silhouette true to its original design while ensuring the performance level is built for today’s game. The silhouette retains its signature construction and provides a comfortable feel for everyday wear. The asymmetrical lacing delivers a snug, customizable fit, the textile sockliner ensures a soft touch for comfort, and the new Hyperboost midsole offers energy return and responsiveness with each step.
Designed for those who demand both comfort and performance, the Harden Vol. 1 blends a classic look with modern adidas innovation. Restomod is not a redesign, it’s a return to the original with updated technology built underneath it. The Harden Vol. 1 Restomod remains intentionally close to the original form maintaining the premium leather toe cap, pressure mapping outsole, three-stripe execution, and Harden’s logo.
The Harden Vol. 1 “Pioneer” launched first in China on August 26 and will launch globally on October 15, 2026 on adidas.com and select retailers. The Harden Vol. 1 will be available at $140.00 USD/EUR.
