Tekashi 6ix 9ine Inks $10 Million Record Deal from Prison
This time last month, Tekashi 6ix 9ine was singing like a canary before judge and jury about his former Nine Trey squad.
After pleading guilty to racketeering and firearms, and child sex charges before that, the rapper has reportedly cut a deal with former label 10k Projects for a whopping $10,000,000 – as he still awaits sentencing. The deal is good as long as he presses up two albums (one in English and the other in Spanish) upon his release.
This is one more trick up the artist’s sleeve. Just last month his legal team issued a press release announcing his refusal to accept witness protection.
6ix9ine amassing more than 900 million views on YouTube for his Spanish song “Bebe” may have something to do with the sizable payout offer from his label. His devoted online fan base speaks to the rapper’s decision to record an album exclusively in Spanish.
With the rapper’s sentencing taking place on December 18th, it’s unclear when he will actually begin recording and releasing music.
Tekashi 6ix 9ine originally faced 47 years in prison, but may not serve any of it after testifying against former 9ine Trey comrades, which has resulted in guilty verdicts for two individuals.
