Keeping You Sweet presents a diverse range of vegan baked goods for every occasion, whether it’s a special celebration, a gift or a quick pick-me-up, one can simply enjoy a little something sweet when visiting Keeping You Sweet at the Willowbrook Mall.
Founder April Harris explains, “We are now more accessible to our customers. Our baked goods have been life-changing for many people. Some of our customers are brought to tears when they find us, as they once had to refrain from indulging in delicious desserts. Now, they can savor the many delights just like everyone else. We’ve made online ordering and shipping available for their family and friends, and we continue to grow in this way.”

Keeping You Sweet: April’s Sweet Story + Dedication to Mom
Keeping You Sweet was founded in 2017 by April Harris, a member of the 90’s platinum-selling pop-dance girl group Seduction member. Known for their Billboard charting hits “Heartbeat,” “Two To Make It Right,” You’re My One and Only,” and more allowed April to tour the world and live the fast-paced life of performing artists.
Concurrently, her mother developed a successful catering business while April toured internationally. The passing of her mother in 2011 left April profoundly distressed, prompting her to find solace in her faith and her mother’s recipes, which she used to pursue a newfound passion for baking.
Inspired by her mother’s sweet potato pie recipe, April ingeniously transformed it into a cheesecake, incorporating natural and low-fat ingredients while omitting refined sugar and gluten.
In 2012, she ventured into farmers’ markets and philanthropy by donating her creations to fundraising events. Her innovative desserts quickly garnered attention, particularly from Carey Hamilton at Newark’s WBGO jazz station, leading to a commission for a sweet potato cheesecake for a holiday party. Subsequently, Whole Foods took notice of April’s exceptional talent, ultimately inviting her to become a supplier for the Newark store, underscoring her remarkable accomplishments and recognition in the baking industry. Presently, Keeping You Sweet is a supplier for multiple Whole Foods Markets, offering gluten-free cheesecakes, and a newly introduced vegan (plant-based) cheesecake line. Each cheesecake label pays homage to April’s mother with the inscription “Made by Georgia’s daughter.”
Today, April is on-site at her retail location, Keeping It Sweet, at The Willowbrook Mall in Wayne, New Jersey, where all delicious baked goods are made and can be purchased, ordered, and enjoyed at their bake-shop center mall with a seating area.
