The 2026 Urban Film Festival Returns Labor Day Weekend, Celebrating 11 Years of Free Film, Culture, and Community in Miami

MIAMI, FL (July 29, 2026) – Florida Film House International announces the return of the 2026 Urban Film Festival (UFF), September 4–6, 2026, during Labor Day Weekend. Celebrating its 11th anniversary, the Urban Film Festival has grown into one of the nation’s largest free film festivals, convening filmmakers, artists, students, educators, industry professionals and film enthusiasts for three days of independent cinema, education, networking and cultural celebration.

The festival opens on Friday, September 4, at the Overtown Performing Arts Center (OPAC) with a showcase of films by students in the 1st Take Youth Film Program. The screening celebrates the creativity of South Florida’s emerging filmmakers and highlights Florida Film House International’s year-round commitment to youth education, mentorship, and workforce development.

A Weekend of Film, Learning and Connection
Friday evening continues with the festival’s signature Welcome to Miami Party at Red Rooster Overtown, bringing together filmmakers, industry professionals, sponsors, community leaders and guests to celebrate opening night and experience the culture, cuisine, music and history of Historic Overtown.
On Saturday and Sunday, the festival moves to Silverspot Cinema in Downtown Miami, where audiences will have the opportunity to experience nearly 200 independent films by local, national, and international filmmakers.
Beyond the screenings, attendees will have access to a robust lineup of free professional development and educational programs, including:
