Khyree Jackson Foundation Hosts Inaugural “Khy Day” to Celebrate Life and Legacy of Late NFL Rookie
Upper Marlboro, MD – Aug. 13, 2025 – Khyree Jackson Foundation, established in memory of Minnesota Vikings rookie and Upper Marlboro native Khyree Jackson, proudly hosted its first annual “Khy Day” on Monday, August 11, what would have been Jackson’s 26th birthday.
Held at Jackson’s alma mater—Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School—Khy Day, was a private event for teenagers in the Upper Marlboro community. The event included music, birthday treats, and special moments of giving back, including a college scholarship presentation, free school supplies and football equipment, and free back-to-school haircuts for youth in need.
Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School seniors Jade Medley and Ijah Simmons were awarded the Khyree Jackson Memorial Scholarship for $1,000 each. Medley will be attending Morgan State University in the Fall, and Simmons will be attending Clark Atlanta University.
Guests in attendance wore white to honor Jackson. The color is a symbol of remembrance but also represents Jackson’s ‘icy’ fashion taste. The University of Oregon, where Jackson finished his collegiate football career, also wore white to join Khy Day in spirit.
Jackson tragically passed away in a car accident in July 2024. He played collegiate football for The University of Alabama and University of Oregon, and was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2024 NFL Draft.
“It is important for us to use Khyree’s legacy as a way to help other young people in our community,” said Jackson’s mother Ebbony Jackson. “Today was very special and an impactful way to celebrate our son’s birthday.”
