Holy star-studded cast, Batman! Let's just stop ignoring the elephant in the room and say it already, right? So, I guess we're trying really hard this season to win Feelgood Christmas Movie with Stacked Ensemble Cast Idol, yeah? While The Perfect Holiday lacks the team of more seasoned actors/actresses sprinkled with the eighteen year old source of aural pleasure that is titillating the teenage girl set (and ensuring the teenage boy set gulps plenty of Haterade), this movie does centre around Gabrielle Union and Morris Chestnut, again. It's kind of sweet if you think about it, the pair are like an onscreen Marvin and Tammy, though they've never (cough) hooked up in real life, they just happen to trip over each other repeatedly in reel life. The chemistry of the cast is perfect though, from the plotting kids to the hero/sidekick relationships between Chestnut and Faizon Love (the best elf ever, Will Ferrell ain't got nothin' on him!), Charlie Murphy and Katt Williams (let's not sleep on the sarcastic genius of the Jay Jizzy character!), and Rachel True and Jill Marie Jones as Union's girlfriends. Queen Latifah lays the holiday spirit on heavy, while her foil Terrence Howard uses his magic eyes to sell the audience on the fact that it's hard out here for a Grinch. Nobody's going to be nominated for an Oscar, but everyone is going to have fun, so if we accept it for what it is, it's not that bad. But a note to the stylist? Baby needs to lose that awful hat, not get another one in tan! To the director, Mr. Rivera, are we to understand that this is really what you'd rather be doing with your time? Hmmmmm.....

Synopsis:

THE PERFECT HOLIDAY is a heart-warming holiday story of Nancy (played by Gabrielle Union - "Daddy's Little Girl" & “Bring it On”), a loving single mother of three who falls for Benjamin (Morris Chestnut – “Best Man", “Like Mike” & “Breakin’ All the Rules”), a talented but struggling songwriter who is working part-time as a mall Santa. Conflicts arise when her oldest son, 10 year old John-John, convinces his younger brother and sister to join him in mischievous plots and schemes against their mother’s new boyfriend in the hopes that she will reunite with his hero - their rap-mogul father J-Jizzy (Charlie Murphy). Being narrated by Queen Latifah in a magical role of “Mother Christmas” opposite Terrence Howard, who plays a hard-to-dislike Scrooge-ish character named “Bah-Humbug”, THE PERFECT HOLIDAYsuccessfully brings together all the elements that will make this a Holiday Classic.
